Once Upon a Time…American Personnel We launched the employment agency named American Personnel, in 1999 to serve the industrial and professional employment needs of Stark County. We started with one person, one resume, and one phone call, and everything else took off from there. American Medical Personnel We added more staff along the way, and introduced healthcare staffing in 2001. Wow! The pace of scheduling nurses by the shift was exhilarating, but nothing compared to the thrill of creating a company that was excitingly different in its approach and outlook. We spent the next few years testing, tweaking, and fine-tuning, and by the end of 2005 we were ready for our next step. New Work City We created the company New Work City in 2006 to better define our company-wide mission. We had introduced so many New programs, benefits and ideas in relation to Work that only a City could give them a proper home. This separation allowed our healthcare division to specialize under the name American Medical Personnel and provided the opportunity for them to grow with their own unique identity. We made our move into the big city in 2006, adding a second office location in Beachwood. Cleveland rocks! NWC Neighborhood We launched the New Work City Neighborhood in 2007! We employ members of the community to serve the needs of local homeowners seeking a more cost-effective solution to home repairs and maintenance. The future looks bright…
The Birth of a CompanyOnce upon a time long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a kindly young entrepreneur who decided to open an employment agency to help people find jobs. Actually, it was only 1966, and the galaxy was less than four hundred miles from here in Allentown, PA. Richard and his young wife Helen hoped that their new business, American Personnel, would aid their community and allow them to provide for their three daughters. Besides, it was better than selling light bulbs (Richard’s last business venture). Over the years, the young family worked together and played together (mostly at the beach). Until one day, Richard and Helen made a decision that changed their family forever. They believed that in a family company, family comes first. They chose to move the business to their home so that they could spend more time with their family. They became executive recruiters, also known then as headhunters, placing engineers all over the country and even overseas. They were having so much fun running a successful employment business from home, that it almost couldn’t be called work! They felt very lucky indeed. The sisters, Vicki, Cindi and Tami, who amazingly never ever argued or displayed any form of sibling rivalry, learned all about business at their parents’ knees. Actually, a large portion of the learning occurred on the ancient Selectric typewriter. Slowly, details about business were absorbed into their DNA. They grew up learning about profits and losses, birds, bees, bull and bear markets, while never forgetting the most important lesson of all: Family comes first. Over the years the girls grew, but the business stayed focused on the same simple theme: Family first. Tami opened a healthcare employment agency in that same far away galaxy as her father. Vicki went on to open her own employment agencies, AMP and NWC, in North Canton, a much closer galaxy. Amazingly, the girls managed to keep their priorities straight (family comes first) in work and play. They still even meet at the beach once a year continuing the tradition with their own children. Even more amazing, these sisters still never ever argue or display any form of sibling rivalry! Fast forward to the present. Richard is now lovingly referred to as Grandfather and his hair is gathered into a white ponytail. The three daughters now have nine sons between them, which was clearly revenge of the testosterone. While Vicki’s son transformed from a toddler to a teenager before her eyes (and she added another toddler to the mix), the company also grew by leaps and bounds until it became what it is today. . . |
